Pathways to join Girl Scouts
Troops: girls join a troop and work on the Girl Scout program together. This includes earning official insignia, product sales, and Girl Scout events.  Troops are run by volunteers who are “leaders” or “advisors” to the girls.  Girl Scouting follows the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and formats most of our programming based on “girl led” principles.

Community Troop: girls can register as individual Girl Scouts in our Community Troop and work on the Girl Scout program on their own. They can also participate in product sales and attend Girl Scout events on their own or with other troops.  This is a great way to participate in Girl Scouting until new troop is formed, or if your daughter’s schedule does not allow her to participate in a regular troop meeting.

Girl Scout levels:
Wondering what Girl Scout level your daughter would be in?
Girl Scout Daisy: grades K-1
Girl Scout Brownie: grades 2-3
Girl Scout Junior: grades 4-5
Girl Scout Cadette: grades 6-8
Girl Scout Senior: grades 9-10
Girl Scout Ambassador: grades 11-12

The easiest and fastest way to get your daughter involved in Girl Scouts is by starting your own troop! Girl Scouts of Northern California and the Sonoma Girl Scouts offer free training and year-long support to its Girl Scout volunteers, which makes starting a troop of your own a great alternative! For more information on how to start your own Girl Scout troop, including the necessary trainings, please visit the council website at www.GSNorCal.org

If you cannot start your own troop or find a local troop with openings, your daughter will be placed on our wait list. Please contact our CDD to place your daughter on our wait list.
