WHERE TO MEET:  We’ll meet at 1:45pm at Vintage Sonoma located at: 91 Napa Rd., Sonoma (across from Friedmans)

Once we finish caroling at our first location we will then caravan to our other locations as a group – we will provide drivers with a detailed list of locations and a map with driving directions.

WHAT TO WEAR:  We encourage you to wear a holiday dress and your Girl Scout uniform over top of it.

TO CELEBRATE:  After we are done singing we will celebrate our COMMUNITY SERVICE with some hot chocolate and cookies. All girls who participate will earn a festive 2012 caroling patch pictured above.

WHAT TO BRING:  This year we would like to add a special element!!! SPECIAL PROJECT>> We would love to request that each girl  who attends bring 3-6 handmade holiday cards or drawings/artwork to pass out at each of the locations to the new friends that we make. 4th of July Parade Float!

Want to walk with our amazing Girl Scout Float in the 4th of July Parade?  Meet at  9:30am on July 4th at the Little League Parking lot up on 1st Street East.   Girls should wear either their Day Camp T-shirt, or full uniform (Sash/Vest, white polo style shirt, and khaki shorts, skirt or pants).  We’ll have special jobs for everyone!  Girls will be needed to carry signs that highlight the fun things we do in Girl Scouts, or to pass out flyers (maybe with a treat attached!) to the girls and families along the parade route.  Parents, please do not drop off your daughter at the parade area, but make sure she is being supervised before, during and after by an adult that will remain with the float and walk the route.

Participation patch will be awarded to everyone who walks with our parade float!

New Girl Scout Troops forming for Fall 2012

Are you ready to join Girl Scouting?  We are beginning to form new troops that will start in Fall 2012.  Most troops start new program at the beginning of the school year, so this is a great time to join an existing troop, or start one of your own!

We need to get a little information about you and your daughter so we can get you connected with a troop.  Please download and mail in this Contact Form, OR you can fill out our online form and submit to us electronically.

If you have any questions about Girl Scout, or starting a new Troop, you are welcome to contact us by phone or email.  If you know that you would like to start a new troop in the Fall, we would really like to begin your Leader Training over the summer (much of it can be done online), so be sure to contact us early!

Upcoming Events – mark your calendar

We have some great fundraising opportunities coming up soon.  We still need volunteers for each event.  Please contact us at SonomaGirlScouts@gmail.com if you can assist with any of these events, even if just for a short time.

Flea Market, Sunday 4/15, 8am-1pm at Sonoma Valley High School Parking Lot.  Both DONATIONS and workers are needed.  We’ll also be hosting an arts & crafts booth in the kids area.  We can also store your donated items this week and transport to the Flea Market for you.

Mary’s Pizza Dine & Donate, Monday 4/16.   Take a Flyer (pdf download) with you and mail in your receipt to get a Pizza Party fun patch at our court of awards!

“First Girl Scout” Book Sales and Author Signing.  Be sure to pre-order your book before April 30th, then join us on May 17th at Reader’s books where you can meet the author and receive your book.   First Girl Scout Book Order Form

Car Wash, Saturday 6/9, 9am-3pm.  We’ll need help washing cars, receiving money, and waving signs on Napa Road to attract all those dirty cars.  Adults and girls needed to help during the day.

These four upcoming fundraisers will generate much needed funds for our Girl Scout Day Camp and local program for girls.  Patches, room rentals, and our program events are all paid by Service Unit funds.  Scholarships for uniforms and events are also available to families that need assistance.  Thanks in advance for your help and support of these important (and fun!) events.

Kidpower Workshop on April 28th

Troop 10117 is hosting  a Kidpower Parent-Child Workshop on April 28th in Sonoma.
K-2nd Grade:  9:30am-11:30am
3rd-5th Grade:  12:30pm-2:30pm

In this active, upbeat workshop, kids practice using “People Safety” skills in everyday life situations familiar to people their age. People Safety skills help prevent problems with peers, family, and strangers. The skills also help strengthen important relationships by improving communication. Practicing People Safety skills can build confidence and improve safety with people at school, in the neighborhood, at home, online — everywhere!  For more information about the program, visit www.kidpower.org.

Cost is $45 per child.   Download the Kidpower Flyer for more information and registration instructions.

Are you type A, B or O?

Whatever BLOOD type you are (did you think we were talking about your personality?) we want your blood!  The Blood Centers of the Pacific is holding a blood drive in honor of Gary Shipston, a Girl Scout father who will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant next month.  While we are not donating blood specifically for Gary, we are showing our support for him and others that are in need of life-saving blood during treatment.

Their mobile coach will be in the parking lot of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church (16290 Arnold Drive, Sonoma, CA) on Sunday, April 1, from 8:30am – 12:30pm.  Sign-up on-line at www.bloodheroes.com and click on “Donate Blood” and enter sponsor code: standrew.  Donors must be at least 18 years of age.  Bring photo ID.  Walk-ins always welcome.

Girl Scouts will be there with just the right cookie flavor to give you a boost of energy after you donate.  Please pass the word and feel free to share this flyer with friends and family.   See you on April 1st!
