Town Square Celebration on Monday, March 12th

Girl Scouts from Sonoma enjoyed a fun evening in the downtown Plaza amphitheater for our Town Square Celebration of the 100th Birthday of Girl Scouting. Mayor Joanne Saunders was our featured guest and read a Proclamation from the City Council.  Along with some traditional Girl Scout songs, a candlelight ceremony preceded the countdown to 7:12pm (19:12 military time) with a Happy Birthday song to Girl Scouting.  A great event and lots of fun memories.

Troops Helping Troops

A special thank you to Troop 10032 for hosting a very fun cardmaking afternoon.  The Girl Scouts of Sonoma Valley got together on a friday afternoon to make holiday cards for the Military Troops overseas.

From left, 6-year-olds Ashlynn Armitage, Sydney Gamble and Carlie Maxwell of Daisy Troop 10112 display some of the festive cards they made at the workshop.

More than 300 cards will be sent to U.S. Troops along with care packages sponsored by the local American Legion.  Girl Scouts donated bags of candy that will be sent along with the cards.
